The program committee welcomes presentation proposals from ANPR members, NPS employees, and public land professionals associated with other agencies or organizations.

ANPR’s primary mission is to communicate with, about and for National Park Service employees of all disciplines. As such, Ranger Rendezvous attendees will include representatives from the NPS directorate, superintendents, interpretive rangers, administrative employees, law enforcements professionals, resource managers, maintenance workers, planners, historians, retirees, volunteers, and park partners. The conference programming is comprised of keynote speakers, training opportunities, breakout sessions, field trips, a service project, and a variety of social events.

The theme for this year’s Rendezvous is: Resilience, Purpose, and the Next Chapter. The conference coordinators are currently seeking proposals for breakout sessions that explore aspects of this theme. Potential topics include:

        • Changing with the Times: Interpretation, Law Enforcement and Resource Management Tools
        • NPS Hiring Practices and New Authorities
        • Operational Leadership
        • Technology in the Parks
        • Reaching a New Generation of Stewards
        • Emotional Intelligence - Why it's Critical in the Workplace
        • The Importance of Building Lasting Relationships with Local Communities

Breakout sessions are generally one hour in length, with at least fifteen minutes reserved at the end for questions and answers. Presentation proposals should be no more than 300 words. Please include the name, e-mail, and phone number of each presenter, as well as a brief description of the proposed session. Email proposals to Cadence Cook ( and Elizabeth Jackson ( no later than April 30, 2017. The conference coordinators will select proposals and notify the presenters by early May. Presenters are expected to register for the conference, if only for one day. Conference rates can be found at:

We look forward to your proposals, and to maintaining the tradition of Rendezvous as one of the premier professional development opportunities in the National Park Service.
